The Weipa Running Festival consists of five different races over varied terrain within the township of Weipa, there is an official race day and a virtual option for all races. Don’t forget we also have an additional grand slam challenge option.

4.20am – 4.45am – Marathon & Teams
5.20am – 5.45am – Half marathon & Teams
5.50am – 6.20am – 10km
6.50am – 7.20am – 5km
7.45am – 8.15am – 2.5km

ENTRY INCLUSIONS

  • Entry into your nominated race/fun run
  • Personalised race bib (if registered by 31/05/2024) for the 2.5km Fun Run, 5km, 10km, 22km and 42.2km distances
  • Finisher’s medal for 2.5km Fun Run, 5km, 10km, 22km and 42.2km distances
  • Novelty trophies for the winners in the 5km, 10km, 22km and 42.2km distances
  • Lucky draw prizes
  • A fun, safe and professional activity
  • Public liability insurance

Spectators are welcome at Andoom Oval to cheer on fellow runners, friends and family.

TEAM EVENTS

There are now 3 Team events: 

  • Half Marathon team of 2
  • Marathon team of either 2 or 4 runners
  • And our brand new ‘The Mission –  Team Event’. Teams consist of one nominated runner in each of the 5 events on race. (marathon / half marathon/ 10km / 5km + 2.5km) The winning team will be the team that has the quickest total combined time. (nb: marathon & half marathon legs can consist of team entries also)

Another 2024 addition is our interschool sports house competition, be sure to enter your child’s school sports house details in their registration to ensure their run counts towards the overall winner! 

GRAND SLAM CHALLENGE

(This is an additional add on which is found in the ‘merchandise’ section of registration into a race)

There are 2 Grand Slam options.

Simply complete the runs, submit your evidence and you’ll get the Grand Slam medals.

Note: Each distance must be completed separately.

Register for your desired race event, participate in that event on race day (or virtual if you are a virtual participant)

Then complete the remainder of distances virtually and submit your times to the race director.

All distances must be completed during the virtual run dates.

If you are registered for the grand slam events, evidence is required to be submitted by the 31/07/2024 medals will be distributed shortly after the event or via post in August 2024.

*We STRONGLY recommend you gauge your child’s ability before race day for the sake of their and the other runners race.

VIRTUAL ENTRIES

Your race/s needs to be completed by the 20th of July 2025 and evidence needs to be submitted to racedirector@weiparunningfestival.org.au

Any evidence of distance and total time will be accepted. We suggest the following apps to help you: 

Virtual Runners – Race medals can be collected at the Race Check in Canteen on race day, please ensure evidence has been submitted to racedirector@weiparunningfestival.org.au
